Quite a place...

How did I know I would do this?- neglect this blog for an entire semester, only to come crawling back during winter break.

Currently drinking white wine (what?!) with ice cubes in it (redneck) from a solo cup (redneck x2)...but at least it's a gold one and not a red one. That makes it classier (only slightly). The wine was an xmas gift. My family gave me a lot of boozey gifts this xmas. I think they get the drift that my life is sort of in a place right now (no adjective would concisely befit my life right now). This is perhaps the most unexpected place I've ever been in, my life right now. I'm holding on for the ride.

More barely coherent, hardly cohesive posts to come.

Absolutely obsessed. If you haven't met Lana yet, you're welcome.

At least James Mercer understands...

More defeated today than any other day thus far. Questioning everything. Ego crumbling. Reality realized. Only one option... in the abyss.

Beach trip! Thank heavens!

My mum, sis, nephew, and I went away on a last-minute beach trip this weekend. It's a new tradition we started last year, and we almost missed this year by waiting too late to plan (this summer has been crazy), but alas we were saved by a small inn in Biloxi, MS. Bonus was that upon check-in we were upgraded to a private 2 bedroom cottage. Score! It's been raining EVERY day in south Louisiana lately, but as my mum's friend prophetically told us, "it never rains in Biloxi," and she was right. It was blue skies and sun (and some clouds) the whole weekend. I was able to get my most-desired pre-med school tan and spend quality time with the fam all at once.

Hey there, lil gull.

Happy Bonnaroo 2012!

Here it is! The long-awaited Bonnaroo post. I'll let the pics speak for themselves for the most part, but I can't stress to you readers enough how amazing it was. It was everything I expected and more. If you have the chance to go, GO!

Wing-a-Fish? We had to stop. On the road to 'roo in nowhereville, Alabama.

WHOLE catfish indeed

Campsite

Thanks, mum for letting us drive the van across 4 states and then camp out of it for 4 days. You're the best!

Bf and brother in the tepee

Hair stayed like this for most of the trip because bangs and bonnaroo don't mix.

Completely liberating to be sans makeup for so long.

NOOOO!

I am changed.

Only sunburn suffered was on my forehead
(you know, the part that never sees the light of day  because of my bangs).

Highlights of the experience were:
~Finally seeing Radiohead live (I could write an entire post on how magnificent this experience was!)
~Becoming completely entranced by The Shins on a cool, misty final day
~Dancing along with Santigold's booty-shaking backup dancers
~Having Leslie Feist's previously-perceived level on coolness blown out of the water (She is even more badass in person! Can you say, guitar goddess? She shredded that axe.)
~Experiencing Aziz Ansari's hilarious swagger firsthand at the comedy tent

Happy birthday again, America and blog! [Also, I'm nosy.]

Well, it's the anniversary of the signing of the declaration of independence and also the founding of this blog. It was a less than thrilling day for me. It rained all day, squashing my plans of sunbathing. However, I suppose I should be thankful that the rain stopped in time for the fireworks though. I do love fireworks. Overall, the day was spent baking cupcakes, watching movies, and hanging with Oats (one of my favorite ways to spend the day fyi).

It's crazy to think I started this blog 2 years ago. So much has changed since then. 2011 was a complete wash with zero blog posts. [How did that happen? Oh yea, Dave happened.] But, I  vow to post more consistently with more consistent subject areas. I feel like I've accomplished so much in two years yet so much remains the same. Different yet the same.

****Note: I've decided [like a second ago] to put my personal rants in italics. That way, people can skip over it if they like, and by people I mean me when I'm rereading my own posts [because I'm pretty sure I contribute to 95% of my own page views]. I've read lots of "blog advice" to never share personal information but that's exactly what I like to read. I'm nosy like that. And also, when did blogging get so far removed from journaling? I miss the livejournal days. I mean, where else can I turn when I'm overly emotional and over-reacting? If not my imaginary internet friends, then whom?
